How to be More Creative with Your Wardobe

Posted by Jill Chivers in Shop Your Wardrobe Strategies, Videos

Getting dressed should be fun and an enjoyable part of your day.  No matter where you work or what you do, adding some creativity and fun into getting dressed (even if it’s just the weekend or out of work hours) is possible for all of us!

Here are my top 3 tips for dressing more creatively:

  1. What feels exciting or daring or sensational for you?  Stretch yourself and reconnect with the sense of playfulness, in your own terms.  It’s amazing how many more options you can come up with when you let go of some of the rules and collapse some of the boundaries we sometimes put in place when it comes to what we are wearing.
  2. Change the way you express yourself through clothing whenever the mood grabs you.  You might want to explore one element of your style for a few days, weeks or even months – but you don’t have to commit to it forever!  Play around with your style, liberate your style insight, and make dressing for the day a priority, even if it’s just for a short period of time.  If you choose to change what you’re wearing in any way, do it!  Life is too short to wear boring clothes!
  3. Use your feelings as a basis for choosing your outfits – what do you feel like wearing or combining today?  It’s amazing what a difference our clothing and outfit choices make to how we feel, and choosing something that makes you feel sensational can give you a real boost.  Do an outfit diary for a week at least, and experiment with using your feelings as the basis for choosing your clothing or creating today’s outfit and see what happens!
